UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH PRESENTS: MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR MACKENZIE UNIVERSITY

The Millennium Panther, a symbol of Pitt pride, outside of the William Pitt Student Union. A time capsule to be opened in 2051 is buried beneath. This is a momentous time in Brazil’s history. Brazil is recognized as one of the world’s most powerful countries and with the rapid expansion of its economy, there are many great opportunities for Brazilians to play a fundamental role in the country’s growth and prosperity.

As Brazil prospers, you too can prosper by equipping yourself to differentiate from your fellow classmates by combining your engineering, business or international commerce degree with an international business education experience. Mackenzie Presbyterian University’s engineering, international business, and business students can significantly enhance their college experience both academically and culturally by participating in the Management and Leadership Program (MLP) for Mackenzie University held at the University of Pittsburgh located in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

For the past 10 years, the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business has offered executive education opportunities to Brazilians through its Executive MBA (EMBA) program. There are more than 200 Brazilian executives who have graduated from the EMBA program and understand the value of a business education offered through the University of Pittsburgh and the Katz School. As a participant in the MLP you will have the opportunity to network with
these individuals.

This program affords Mackenzie students the opportunity to engage in a unique, credit-worthy learning experience and to develop themselves as global citizens. The program provides students with a chance to directly explore a foreign language, history, and people of another land while gaining a competitive edge in the employment market. You will learn about yourself and the world, have opportunities to meet and network with new people, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Building upon your business competencies, this program will differentiate you from your classmates. Many graduate schools and potential employers seek candidates with international experience because they believe such students have the skills to succeed in an ever changing global marketplace.

Program Objectives
• Present a substantive combination of real-world business theory and practice.
• Provide the tools that are needed to take on the leadership challenges of today and to capture the
opportunities of the future.
• Offer a global curriculum taught by internationally renowned faculty.

Faculty
This program is led by the outstanding members of the Pitt Business faculty who not only research current best practices in their area of expertise but also have extensive consulting experience with for profit and nonprofit organizations. As a result they provide a unique combination of knowledge and practical expertise. This blend of theory and practice explains why Katz is the preferred management development provider for many organizations.

Pittsburgh is one of the bestkept secrets in the United States. The same work ethic that once made it the cradle of American industry has created a vibrant new economy, fueled by computer science, robotics research, biotechnology, chemicals and coatings, finance, and telecommunications.

In 2007, Forbes magazine named Pittsburgh the tenth cleanest city, and in 2008 Forbes listed Pittsburgh as the thirteenth best city for young professionals to live. The city is consistently ranked high in livability surveys.

In 2007, Pittsburgh was named “America’s Most Livable City” by Places Rated Almanac. Point State Park, located at confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers, is the site of the Three Rivers Regatta—our country’s largest land, air, and water festival—and the city’s Independence Day
celebration. Music, powerboat racing, fireworks displays, waterski shows, and extreme sports are all part of this three-day celebration of America’s birthday.

The University of Pittsburgh
Founded in 1787 as a small, private school, the Pittsburgh Academy was located in a log cabin near Pittsburgh’s three rivers. In the 220 years since, it has evolved into an internationally recognized center of learning and research.

Pitt ranked among only seven universities in the uppermost tier of America’s top public research universities according to “The Top American Research Universities” Annual Report (2007). U.S. News & World Report has ranked Pitt in the top 20 among elite U.S. public national universities and numerous other studies have recognized Pitt as one of the top universities in the world. Pitt regularly produces internationally recognized scholarship and fellowship award winners.
